Perth’s Most Romantic Dates

In celebration of Romance Awareness Month, eHarmony asked us for our favourite romantic date ideas. Whether you want to impress that first date, celebrate an anniversary, or rekindle an old flame, you need some dates that turn up the volume. From fine dining to freefalling, here are Perth’s most romantic dates….

For the high rollers:

Channel James Bond with a visit to the glitzy Crown casino. Start with a decadent Japanese feast at Nobu before heading to a glittering show. Afterwards, try your luck around the poker table. Strike it big? Book a room at the super-luxe Crown Metropol hotel and order room service!

For the beach bunnies:

Watching the sunset may be unoriginal, but when it’s as spectacular as the one over Cott beach, all clichés are forgiven. For a prime viewing spot, book a table at Cott & Co, perched right near the shore. With daily caught fish and fancy champagne, it makes for a total treat. Want to fully commit to the love clichés? Take a stroll along the beach, spouting your feelings as you go.

For the wine connoisseurs:

Wine tasting in the Swan Valley is a Perth classic – it just never gets old! Hop in the car and cruise to the oldest vines in the state. There are the classic wineries like Mandoon Estate or Sandalford, but for something a little different, couple your vino with some pair-bonding activities. You can print your own romantic wine labels at Tyler’s Vineyard, watch an intimate concert at Upper Reach Winery, or rent a paddleboard for a quaint row in the lake at Oakover Grounds.

For the foodies:

Hop aboard the Leederville Food Safari! Some of Leedy’s most delicious bars and eateries have teamed up to make a progressive dining experience straight from Japan, with a cute rickshaw shuttling you between stops. For $95 a pop, you’ll nosh on Malay delicacies from Ria, pan-Asian hawker bites and street plates from Kitsch, and hand-made sweets and coffee from Foam Coffee Bar. But the best bit? That intimate rickshaw, allowing you to huddle in closer over the bumpy streets.

For the culture vultures:

With cult movies and kitschy décor – think pink flamingoes, AstroTurf and colourful fairy lights – the Rooftop Movies makes for a cool twist on the classic movie and dinner date. Head to the top floor of the Roe Street Carpark with your date in tow when the weather heats up. You can bring your own food or stock up on candy and Little Creature’s beer from vintage caravans, and order Dough Pizza to be delivered right to your seats. Word from the wise? Arrive early to nab one of the cushy beanbags at the front, gazing at panoramic views of the Perth city skyline before the show starts.

For the daredevils:

Did you know fear has a similar affect on your brain chemistry as falling in love? Hey, they don’t call it ‘falling’ for nothing! So why not double-up on dopamine by going Tandem Sky Diving with WA Skydiving Academy with a date? You’ll freefall at 200 kilometres per hour, hurtling into the lush Tompkins Park on the Swan River.

For the nature lovers:

Pack a picnic with local produce and follow a trail to Rocky Pool in John Forrest National Park. With a tinkling brook and waterfall cascades, it’s a tranquil spot that is storybook pretty. Bask in its beauty (or, you know, your date’s) before cooling off in a swimming hole shaded by tall rocks. Bliss!

For the Bachelor diehards:

Yep, couples hot air ballooning exists outside of Channel 10 – and it’s right here in the Perth hills! Hop into a rainbow-bright balloon and take in the babbling brooks and rolling hills of the picturesque Avon Valley. With cheesily awesome extras like champagne, chocolate and even red roses, you’ll feel like you’ve hopped right off the set of The Bachelor. Flights run through April to November, taking off at dawn for some jaw-dropping sunrise views.
