About

Founder Renee Bergere

Ask any non-Western Australian what they think of Perth, and you’ll most likely hear adjectives like boring, quiet or even dead. Ouch. This blog’s mission is to uncover all of what makes Perth, in fact, a great city – including its food, nightlife, culture and natural beauty.

Great About Perth was started by American journalist Renee Bergere. She’s a grammar-loving writer who has written for  The GuardianLonely Planet, Voyeur, Scoop, Go Places, Broadsheet, Traveller, Perth GuideSix Thousand and eHarmony.

The site is now run under the Write Stuff Collective – a local copywriting biz featuring some of Perth’s freshest writers and creatives.

The curiosity of our contributors and editors has led our team to discover amazing places in and around Perth.

Hope you’ll join us in discovering what makes this place so great.

We’d love to hear from you!

Enjoyed reading your blog. Loved the writers’ festival article. I have something similar but different at http://jocastro.wordpress.com – just in case you’re interested.

    Great blog Renee

You guys Vespa huh? Great aren’t they?

I’ve only just started with scooters in the past couple of years but love the freedom and relative ease in getting around the city on one.. It’s great fun simply getting from A to B!

Yeah, we looooove cruising Perth in the Vespa – even if it earns us laughs sometimes. One day scooters will be cool 🙂

    Your blog is my bible.
Been living in Perth for almost 3 years and it looks like we’re going to stay for while longer. One thing that is NOT boring about Perth is the food. The city offers fantastic variety and quality. Although I hope we have more African and Mediterranean choices. And also I hope one of my fellow Indonesians would step up and open up a high-end Indonesian restaurant so the city knows what it’s been missing so far ;).

Thank you so much for your comment Finallywoken! I’m definitely all for a new upscale Indonesian restaurant in the city. Fingers crossed it happens soon!

Hi Renee, I’m thrilled to have found your blog! I just moved to Perth from Melbourne (where everyone said it would be boring – how wrong they were!) and can’t wait to discover more of the city. Oh and I’m from Europe, so I’ll be totally unbiased 🙂
